It has begun. We started Friday afternoon and worked our way through the weekend. We are using the Ezzo's potty wise double reward system. I know in my heart of hearts Romie is not fully ready as he shows very little intrest and resistance at times but I am determined to have him trained before Jude arrives.
Saturday did not go well but Sunday and yesterday were better. He went to church with his underwear on and didn't have an accident. Yesterday Daddy joined us at our MOPS playdate at Davitas gym. I thought all that bouncing around was cause for disaster but he did great! I was so proud! Of course last night I took him to the gym with me. As were waiting in the lobby he says "potty potty" and starts crossing his legs. I think "oh yay, he is getting it" but when we got there he already had a nasty number two. yuk. out to the car to change and clean up.The funny thing is I was dreading this experience but I have been enjoying it. I guess it is theType A , task driven, go-getter part of me that is being fed. I love seeing him learn and accomplish something. I love to be able to praise him and reward him. I love having a goal to work towards with him.....I have gotten lots of different advice but I am always looking for more...let me know what you got!........

Hey, Lindsay..this is Elsa Crawford from Blakely, GA. Iam good friends with the whole Posey crew. I love reading your blogs, you inspire me so much! So on the potty training thing...with both of my girls, I had a clear jar full of M&M's in the bathroon that they could see (out of little arms reach), the girls could get 1mm if #1 & 2mm if #2. They also learned to count, their colors & to potty train. Even if they sat on potty and did nothing, I still gave them 1mm for trying. It worked for me! Also take them to the potty every 5 minutes, eventually he will start reminding you. Other things we did, put 1 drop of food coloring in potty, Roman will enjoy trying to aim to mix the color up and make bubbles. I have a friend that put 1 cheerio in toilet for her son to aim at. Do what works for you! Take care & good luck.
I think he is already doing soooo great! He will catch on quickly - don't get frustrated by set backs! Way to go Romie!
Hey Lindsay,
In my experience when they are truly ready it only takes a couple of days. So if after a few days you still are not having great success I woulend't worry about it and just wait on Roman:) I actually find being potty trained more work, every where they go they want to use the potty, ( even the gross ones...) and then with an infant you are juggling the baby and trying to help your other lo on the potty. Keep a toddler potty in your car:) All the best! Brittan
Well, no advice from me since I don't have children yet. I do wish you the best of luck. Elsa's advice sounds great!!
That's awesome! Go Roman!!!
Here's my little tid-bit of advice that worked for Jack. He seems to be driven by "events". So, starting in October, we talked about how Santa was coming soon and if he wanted big boy toys then he needed to be done with diapers by then. It took about two weeks until we were really accident-free, and then he LOVES talking about how gross diapers are and how he has Spider Man underwear, etc. He did not want baby toys -- and he did get big boy toys for Christmas back then!
Elsa's advice sounds like a great idea! I just might have to try that with Noah. I will be starting potty training soon with him and will read PottyWise, also. I have several friends (who followed BabyWise) recommend it! I think that Roman is more ready than you think!! Sounds like he's doing a great job...just stick with it! Before you know it, he'll be diaper free!
that is awesome that you are trying and Romie is doing well. I cannot give you any advice 'cause i haven't been down that road yet. I will be asking you for it next year ;)
Considering Emma still thinks that Potty Time is just a special time when she and Mommy both sit on their potties and stare at each other, I can't offer any advice. Except just don't give up. It took months for my little brother to stop having #2 accidents. I've always heard it's hard for little boys because they go 90-miles-a-minute (or in Romie's case--180-miles-a-minute) and just forget to go potty.
I'm sure you're doing a great job, though. Keep up the good work!
Oooh, yucky. I hope it happens quickly. I am interested to see how the ezzo method goes. We just winged it.
The St Paul's consignment sale is on Fri and Sat!!!I know you love a sale.
